End of Term 2

The end of the Autumn term is always filled with joy as we come together as a school community to share events and celebrate student achievements. Year 7 and Year 12 have now completed their induction and by the time you read this we will have enjoyed our festive celebration assembly.

Last Monday evening we enjoyed performances from many students at our annual Carol Service which was held live for the second time at our local Church, St Michael’s. We were delighted that the Bishop of Salisbury was able to join us this year as well. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to families for attending. In addition, a special thank you to our Year 12 professional cookery students who provided homemade mince pies for the event.

Lunchtime activities continue to grow, including a significant number of students who now bring their own table tennis bat to play on our outdoor tables. Although we have bats to borrow students find bringing their own is much easier so if you are looking for an extra Christmas present this could be something to consider? Students have requested to eat in the Library area at lunch and provided this area is kept clean and tidy I am happy for this to happen.

As the Academy continues to be a phone free environment we will be doing a full Yondr pouch check on the first day back in January. If a student’s phone is seen after the 8th January the phone will be confiscated and returned to parents. This is only relevant to a very small number of students, but I want all parents to be aware. Thank you for your support with this.

The cost of living continues to increase and I am ever aware of students who may not be able to, or have the chance to, eat breakfast before they arrive at school. In January I am delighted that we are able to continue to run a free breakfast club and any student can go to Dining and receive a free breakfast of either cereal or a bagel. This is now used by many students and Ihighly recommend it so students are ready for learning if they have not had a chance to eat.

Most terms we are sad to say goodbye to some staff and this term we give our very best wishes to Mrs Bilton and Mr Wilkins who are moving to pastures new in January. Mrs Formosa and Mr Goodall are joining us in January.

Finally, as we all stop to pause and take a break I would like to wish all our families a very Happy Christmas. I hope you can enjoy some family time and share some joy and love.

We look forward to welcoming all students back to the Academy on Monday, 8th January.
