This morning Ross from Salisbury Trust for the Homeless visited us to collect 32 Christmas boxes. Thank you to our school community and Bemerton Parish via Rev Kev Martin for the generous donations and to the students who helped wrap each box. We love making a difference to our local community.
Another spectacular treat today, thanks to our amazing canteen team: a German Market! The delicious smells started wafting from the kitchen early, making our stomachs rumble by lunchtime. And when we finally got to try the wonderful delights prepared by the team... wow!
Science Fair 2026 – Science Week! We're excited to announce that as part of Science Week 2026, the Science Department at Sarum Academy will be hosting its very first Science Fair on Tuesday 10th March 2026. The fair is open to all students, with after-school preparation sessions on Tuesdays and a range of prizes to be won! Students can take part by creating a scientific project through investigations and research. We would love to have everyone getting creative with their ideas. Sign-ups open in January with Ms. Formosa and Mr. Fox. More details on this event will be shared with students in class. We're excited to launch this new event and look forward to seeing students' scientific ideas come to life!
Science Club – Week 7! This week, students enjoyed a festive Science Club session making their own bath bombs. They followed instructions carefully, while also getting creative by choosing their own scents, colours and glitter. Along the way, students learnt about simple chemical reactions for example, how mixing an acid and a carbonate produces a fizzing reaction that releases gas. As this was our final Science Club session before the Christmas holidays, we'd like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas from the Science Department. We look forward to welcoming students back to Science Club for more fun science activities on Tuesday 6th January!
A huge thank you to our incredible canteen team – Jenny, Mandy, Violet & Catherine – for a fantastic Christmas lunch for students and staff today! It was such a pleasure to see so many students enjoying plates full of turkey and veggies (the debate over whether Yorkshire puddings belong on the plate continues... ). And, as always, the after-dinner treats were absolutely amazing. Thank you, team, for always making this time of year so special!
A picturesque evening out on the 3G pitch, as students enjoyed football enrichment club after school.

We kicked off the last week of term with a host of visitors welcoming our students in to school this morning! Not one but two Santas, a walking and talking Christmas tree, a naughty elf, and even a reindeer, under the careful supervision of Mr Gale . (Don't forget to feed it today!)
Year 8 Football - County Cup Win Our Year 8s dug deep and came from behind to book their place in the next round of the Wiltshire Schools' Cup after an entertaining clash with Stonehenge. Every player should be proud of their performance. Player of the Match: Adrian outstanding at the back and even grabbed an assist after a brilliant mazy run forward. Well done, everyone onwards to the next round!
Science Club – Week 6! This week students took part in a carousel of practical activities exploring materials, density, floating and sinking, pressure and diffusion. They moved between stations, tested ideas, and compared their results a great mix of hands-on investigation and teamwork. We look forward to our final session of the term next Tuesday, where we'll finish with a Christmas-themed science activity.
