End of Term 4

Term 4 has flown by, especially with our Ofsted inspection at the start of term and the unfortunate disruption of a snow day and strike days.

With Term 5 just around the corner, I would like our whole school community to focus on supporting our Year 11 and Year 13 students as we enter exam season. If you are in Year 11 or have a child in Year 11 then please take advantage of the Easter revision sessions that staff are giving up their holiday to provide and remember that hard work pays off, it is essential you are revising over Easter.

This term we have sadly experienced some significant staff absence, which has meant more cover lessons than usual. I am delighted we have three new members of staff joining us after Easter, so this should be less of an issue next term.

We continue to focus on standards and I have seen lots of excellent learning this term. During the Easter holiday you will receive a letter from Mr Gale outlining our new Behaviour Policy. Students will have this fully explained to them on the first day of Term 5. Students, parents and staff have been involved in the consultation for this so thank you if you were involved at all.

Speaking of standards, we are still awaiting our final Ofsted report to arrive. I have received a draft copy, which reads well and as soon as it arrives I will share this with parents.

The introduction of the use of the 3G pitch and activities in the Library at lunchtime have been very popular and we are fortunate to have a number of outdoor table tennis tables and standalone basketball nets arriving over Easter. I look forward to these getting lots of use as the weather gets better in Term 5.

Next term also contains the King’s Coronation and it is fitting that we celebrate this in school. There will be an additional reflection for the week (thank you Miss Rock) and also in consultation with the School Council we will come together as a school community on Friday, 5th May for a tournaments afternoon. The Trust will be providing all students with a commemorative book mark and I am hopeful there will be cake involved!!
