Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

In Year 7, each child is given a main language to study (either French or Spanish), which they learn for 3 hours per fortnight. They also have 1 hour of the other language, plus 1 hour of German, giving them a broad introduction to language learning.

  • In Year 8, students have 3 hours of French and 2 hours of Spanish.

  • In Year 9, their focus is on French, with 4 hours per fortnight.

Maths, English and Science

To make sure students are well prepared for the demands of the curriculum, students now receive:

  • 8 hours of Maths per fortnight

  • 7 hours of English per fortnight

  • 7 hours of Science, rising to 8 hours in Year 9

This allows us to cover the curriculum in greater depth and support strong progress in these core subjects.

Information Technology (IT)

IT is taught throughout all of KS3.

  • In Year 7, students have 1 hour per fortnight.

  • In Years 8 and 9, IT is taught through a carousel with Food Technology, giving students a balance of digital and practical skills.

We are aiming to increase IT teaching time in the future as digital skills become increasingly important.

Curriculum Documentation

To ensure our curriculum information is always current and accurate, our curriculum documents are hosted in a live, shared folder. These set out what students can expect to study each year, alongside the core aims of each subject.

Please note that this link will open a webpage containing subject folders, each holding the relevant curriculum information.
